Goan Chicken Curry Prepared Like Mutton Curry

Goan Chicken Curry, actually this recipe is to be done with mutton. Here I used chicken, but it proved to be very tasty.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 gm Chicken
  • 1/4 cup Yoghurt
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 tsp Clove powder
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp Chilli powder
  • 2 big Onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger /garlic paste
  • 2 cup Warm water
  • 2 tbsp Coconut thenga kothu
  • 2 tsp Vinegar
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Mix yoghurt and turmeric powder in a bowl. Cut the chicken into medium sized pieces. Marinate the cleaned chicken pieces with this mixture and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
  • Heat 3tbsp of oil in a pan, fry one chopped onion and keep it aside.
  • Add the balance onion, ginger, garlic paste in the same pan and saute it. Add all the above mentioned powders and saute for a minute.
  • Add 2 tbsp of water to it and mix. Then add the chicken pieces and stir for 2-3 minutes.
  • Then add water, when it starts to boil, cover and cook for 10 minutes on low flame.
  • Now add the fried onion, mix well.
  • Add vinegar and switch off the flame.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan and fry the coconut pieces and pour this over the curry.
  • Goan Chicken Curry is ready. Serve hot with fried rice, ghee rice or chapathi.
