Kozhi Ada (Chicken Hot Pockets )

Kozhi Ada is one of the popular snack from Malabar. Kozhi Ada is an unavoidable snack in the Ifthar parties. Kozhi Ada is really tasty.

Ingredients
  

  • 200 gm Boneless Chicken cooked and minced it
  • 2 Onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Garlic / ginger paste
  • 3 Green chilli
  • 1/4 cup Bengal gram dal cooked and keep it aside
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/ 2 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1/2 Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
  • Coriander leaves.
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • For Ada
  • 1 cup Wheat flour
  • Water as required
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan, add onion, ginger, garlic paste, green chilli and saute it.
  • Add all the above mentioned powders, bengal gram dal, minced chicken, salt and coriander leaves, mix well.Now the filling is ready.
  • In a bowl, add wheat flour, salt and oil, mix well by adding little water. Knead well and make a smooth dough.Take each ball from the dough and roll it to large chapathis. Cut out with a small round cutter or with a lid.
  • Place 1 tsp of filling and fold like a pocket.
  • Press the edges well and pinch the edges together. (as shown in the picture )Repeat this till the filling is finished.
  • Heat oil in a pan, fry each chicken adas on medium flame on both sides till it turns golden brown.
  • Delicious Chicken Ada is ready. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.

Notes

Cut the chicken into small pieces. Cook it with little turmeric, pepper powder and salt.
