Pepper Chicken Gravy

South Indian pepper chicken gravy, goes well with Chappathi, Dosai and idli. Pepper chicken gravy is a quick and easy-to-make traditional recipe. I learnt this recipe from my grandmother. It is a sure cure for cold, cough.

Ingredients
  

  • Chicken 1/2 kg
  • whole black pepper 1/2 tsp
  • cumin seed 1/2 tsp
  • cardamom 2 no.
  • onion 3 no.
  • green chili 2 no.
  • ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  • tomato 1 no.
  • black pepper powder 1 1/2 tsp
  • coriander powder 3/4 tsp
  • turmeric power 1/2 tsp
  • curry leaves
  • coriander leaves 1 tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • oil 4 tsp
  • ghee 1 tsp

Instructions
 

  • heat the oil and ghee in the pan, and temper the whole black pepper, cumin seed and cardamom
  • chop the onion , tomato and green chili
  • add onion and green chili and saute it for 3 mins
  • add curry leaves, ginger garlic paste and mix well until the raw smell goes out
  • add tomato and mix well
  • now add black pepepr powder, coriander powder, salt and turmeric powder and mix well
  • cook for two min until the masala get cooked and oil comes out
  • add cleaned chicken and mix it, cook for 5 mins in medium flame
  • add required water for gravy and mix well
  • allow to cook in medium flame until the chicken get cooked and gravy gets thick consistency
  • garnish with coriander leaves, now pepper chicken gravy is ready.
