Malayora Meen Curry

It is a nadan recipe prepared in the high ranges or hilly regions of Kerala . It can be served with boiled rice or kappa.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 / Fish
  • 1 / Shallots
  • 1 tsp Ginger / garlic chopped
  • 4 Green chilli
  • 1 / Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Chilli powder
  • 1/ 2 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1/4 Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 or Raw mango
  • 1/2 Water
  • 1/2 Grated coconut
  • 4 tbsp Coconut oil
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Heat coconut oil in a mud pot, splutter fenugreek seeds , add shallots, curry leaves. ginger, garlic, green chillies and saute it well.
  • Add all powders and again saute it.
  • Add raw mango pieces, water, salt and mix well. Cover the pot and when it starts to boil, add fish pieces.Cover and cook it for 5 minutes on low flame.
  • Grind the grated coconut to make a smooth paste. Then add the ground coconut paste to the mud pot. Cook it for another 2 minutes.
  • Malayora Meen Curry is ready to serve. It goes well with boiled rice. kappa or chakka puzhukk.

Grated coconut - 1 /2 cup
Coconut oil - 4 tbsp
Curry leaves
Salt to taste
