Ivy Gourd / Kovakkai Poriyal
Kovakkai poriyal is a yummy simple fry that tastes great with for sambar/rasam rice

- Kovakkai / Ivy Gourd 100gm
- onion 1 no.
- red chili powder 1/2 tsp
- turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
- salt to taste
- grated coconut 1/2 cup
- oil 3 tsp
- mustard 1/2 tsp
- broken urad dal 1/4 tsp
- bengal gram 1/4 tsp
- curry leaves 6 leaves
chop the kovakkai / ivy gourd in round shape
chop the onion
in pan heat the oil and temper the mustard, broken urad dal and bengal gram
add curry leaves and onion and saute it until the onion turn into brown
add ivy gourd / kovakkai and mix well
add red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and mix well
allow to cook until the ivy gourd get cooked in medium flame
now add grated coconut and mix well , allow to cook for 2 minutes and switch off the flame
