Basbousa

this is a very nice recipe. Basbousa is a term in the Middle east that refers to a very sweet semolina sort of cake. Verbally in Arabic its called as busbousa.

Ingredients
  

For Baking:

  • 1 cup Semolina/ Rava
  • 1 cup Dessicated coconut powder
  • 60 gram Ghee/Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 4 strands Saffron
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder

For Sugar Syrup:

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 5 drops Vanilla Essence
  • 10 Almonds for Topping

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl add rava, dessicated coconut, all purpose flour
  • Then add butter & egg, Mix well
  • Add sugar, milk and mix well
  • Then add saffron, baking powder and mix well, then pre heat the oven for 180'C and pour the mixture in a greased pan then bake it for 30minutes in 180'C
  • In mean time of baking, in a bowl add sugar,water. When sugar gets dissolved keep it in low flame cook for 5 minutes and turn off
  • add vanilla essence in sugar syrup and allow to cool
  • After baking basbousa, pour the sugar syrup.
  • Now add almonds as toppings on it
  • Again bake it for 15 minutes in 180'C, Then cut the basbousa into cubes and allow it to cool.
  • Basbousa can be taken out from the tray after cooled. Now its ready to serve
