Avarakkai / Broad Beans Poriyal

This stir fry goes well as a side dish for rice and any mixed rice

Ingredients
  

  • chopped avarakkai / broad beans 200g
  • small onion / big onion 1 no.
  • red chili 1 no.
  • oil 3 tsp
  • mustard 1/2 tsp
  • broken urad dal 1/4 tsp
  • bengal gram 1/4 tsp
  • curry leaves 5 no.
  • salt to taste
  • sambar powder 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • grated coconut 3 tsp

Instructions
 

  • in a pan heat the oil and temper the mustard and broken urad dal and bengal gram
  • add curry leaves, red chili and onion and saute it, until the onion turn into brown
  • add tomato and mix well
  • add chopped avarakkai / broad bean and mix well
  • add salt, sambar powder and turmeric powder and mix well
  • add two glass of water and allow to cook
  • cook till the water get dry
  • garnish with grated coconut. avarakkai poriyal is ready
