Vazhakkai Varuval / Raw Banana Fry

Like Potato, Raw banana is another yummy vegetable which tastes divine if we stir-fry them. It is one of the traditional poriyal or curry variety in most of the South Indian kitchen.

Ingredients
  

  • Vazhakka 1 no.
  • Coconut 4 to 5 pieces
  • Red chilli 4 to 5no.
  • Garlic 3 to 4 no.
  • Small onion 3 to 4 no.
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder ½ tsp
  • Fennel seed ½ tsp
  • Oil as required

Instructions
 

  • peel the raw banana skin and cut as round shape and wash it
  • in a pan boil the raw banana for 5 min or 1/2 boiled
  • remove from the pan and dry the water
  • in a mixi jar add onion, red chilli, salt, turmeric powder, fennel seed and coconut and make as apaste
  • in a pan heat the oil and add half boiled raw banana and coconut paste and mix well
  • allow to boil for 15 mins until the raw banana and the masala get boiled in medium flame. add oil if required it
  • once the raw banana turn in golden yellow turn off the flame
  • raw banana fry / vazhakka varuval is ready
