Udipi Rasam
this is a traditional recipe . in kannada it is called as saaru.

- 2 medium Tomato
- 1/2 cup Toor dal
- 2 tsp Jaggery
- Tamarind make extract with 1 cup water
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- Asafoetida A pinch
- Salt to taste
- Coriander leaves Handful
- For seasoning
- 1 tsp Coconut Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 Red chilly
- 1 Curry leaves
For Udipi Rasam Powder / saaru powder:
- 2 tblsp Coriander
- 3-4 Red chili
- 1 tsp Jeera
- 1/4 tsp Fenugreek
- 2 tblsp Coconut
For rasam powder roast all items which given in ingredient table with coconut oil and grind
Boil toor dal and keep aside
Now in a pan add toor dal and add tamarind water and chopped tomato and cook till tomato soft
Now add Udipi rasam powder and bring to boil and salt. if its thick add more 1/2 cup water
Now add jaggery and in other pan temper all item given above and pour in saaru
Now its ready to serve Udipi Rasam / Saaru
