Chettinadu Chicken

Chettinad Chicken is a classic Indian recipe, from Chettinad region. The simple and tasty chicken curry with a fresh flavor is easy to prepare and it goes well with rice, rotis etc.

Ingredients
  

  • chicken 1/2 kg
  • onion 2
  • tomato 2
  • ginger garlic paste 3 tsp
  • curry leaves as required
  • oil 3 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • lemon juice 2 tsp
  • coriander leaves 3 tsp

For Chettinadu Masala:

  • Coriander seeds 3 tsp
  • red chillies 4 to 5
  • cumin seeds / jeera 1 tsp
  • cinnamom 1
  • black pepper 2 tsp
  • cardamom 4
  • aniseeds 1
  • cloves 4
  • coconut 1/4 cup

Instructions
 

  • clean the chicken and add salt, turmeric powder and lemon juice and soak for 15 mins
  • heat the pan without oil and add all the chettinadu masala ingredients except coconut and saute it till it turn light brown
  • now add coconut with that chettinadu masala and make a fine paste
  • heat the oil in the pan and add chopped onion and saute it till it turn to golden brown
  • add curry leaves and ginger garlic paste and mix it
  • add chopped tomato and mix well
  • now add chettinadu masala paste and cook till the raw smell comes out
  • now add soaked chicken and mix well.
  • if required add little water and allow to boil the chicken
  • now chettinadu chicken is ready. serve with hot rice
