Grind the list of ingredients under marination table and keep aside.
Apply on the fish and marinate for 1 hour or minimum 1/2 hour.
Now fry the marinated fishes in hot oil to a golden brown color and keep aside.
In a pan add oil and fry onions. Keep it aside.
In a pan add the oil(fish fried oil) and temper cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaf and add little fried onion.
Now add ginger garlic paste, chopped tomato, green chili and saute well.
Soak saffron with water or milk.
Cook 3/4th of rice with required salt and keep aside.
Now add mint and coriander leaves to the tomato mixture. Saute and add all powders: turmeric powder, red chilli powder and biriyani masala. Mix well.
Now add curd and cook the thick gravy.
Then add fried fish and keep on low flame.
Now add cooked rice and layer with fried onions.
Now sprinkle mint and coriander leaves and saffron. Close with a lid and cook for 5 -10 mins on low flame and turn off.
Now its ready to serve Chettinad Fish Fry Biriyani.
