Khara Pongal

It is the easiest and simplest breakfast. - khara pongal

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Raw rice
  • 1/4 cup dal
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 Red chilly
  • 1 tsp Ginger
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions
 

  • Cook toor both dal and rice together with 2 cup of water salt for 4 to 5 whistles,ie for 5 minutes.
  • Heat oil and ghee in a kadai add cumin seeds and pepper a d ginger , saute for 2 minutes.
  • Add red chilly also and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Add cashews and saute till it turns brown.
  • Then pour this over rice and dal mix.
  • Mix all together well.Heat for 2 minutes in low flame,
  • Now khara pongal is ready .Serve hot with sambhar and coconut chutney.
