Obottu-puran Poli

It is a tasty snack for kids and school going children.Its other name is holige.kannadigas make this sweet for marriage and every special occasions.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Toor dal
  • 1 cup jaggery
  • 1 cup Maida
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • Cardamom
  • 1/2 cup Channa dal

Instructions
 

  • Mix maida,salt,turmeric,oil and water and make a very soft dough.
  • Wash and boil toor dal and channa dal in a vessel for 10 minutes.
  • Drain the water in a strainer and keep it aside.
  • Take grated jaggery in a vessel and add 2 spoons of water and boil for 2 minutes.
  • Pour this jaggery to cooked dal .
  • Add grated coconut and cardamom to this
  • M ix all together properly.
  • Grind in mixer to make smooth paste.
  • Keep it aside.
  • Next take the mixed maida dough and make balls flatten each ball in your palm stuffed with 1 portion of stuffing or puran
  • Seal it compleatly by pulling sides to centre.
  • With palm press into thin polis.
  • Heat a tawa and place the poli and toast on bothsides until it is done
  • Now obottu or puran poli is ready.
