Pumpkin Sambhar

a very popular dish and occupies an important place in South Indian menu. It is a good combo with boiled rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup Toor dal
  • Pumpkin1/2 cup
  • 1/2 cup Onion
  • 3 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp Sambhar powder
  • 2 Tomato
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 Tomato
  • 3 Red chilly
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • 1 tsp Asafoetida

Instructions
 

  • Cook dal in 3 cups of water.
  • Cook pumpkin in 1/2 cup water.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard.
  • .when mustard splutters add fenugreek seeds , urad dal and redchilly.
  • Add sambhar powder and curry leaf , saute for 2 minutes.
  • Mix together cooked pumpkin ,onions tomatoes asafoetida and tempering in a vessel.
  • Add cooked dal also to this. Boil for 5 minutes till it becomes little thick.
  • Now hot pumpkin sambhar is ready to serve with hot rice.
