Ingredients

Lentils / split pigeon pea : 1 cup
Turmeric powder : ½ tsp
Asafoetida : a pinch
Water : 2 cup
Salt : to taste
For Tempering :

Garlic peeled and minced : 4
Cumin seeds/whole jeera : ½ tsp
Red chilli powder : ½ tsp
Curry leaves : few
Ghee or oil : 2 tsp
Chopped coriander leaves : few
Instructions
Clean and wash the lentils and boil in a pressure cooker for 4 - 5 whistles.
Blend the lentils with a hand blender till smooth.
Transfer the boiled lentils to a pan and add 2 cups water, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt and bring to a boil.
Heat ghee in a pan and add the cumin seeds / whole jeera and fry. Add minced garlic and fry till golden brown.
Add the curry leaves and ½ tsp red chilli powder and pour the tempering on the boiled lentils.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
