Ingredients
- Lentils / split pigeon pea : 1 cup -
- Turmeric powder : ½ tsp -
- Asafoetida : a pinch -
- Water : 2 cup -
- Salt to taste -
For Tempering :
- Garlic peeled and minced : 4 - 5 cloves
- Cumin seeds/whole jeera : ½ tsp -
- Red chilli powder : ½ tsp -
- Curry leaves Few -
- Ghee or oil : 2 tsp -
- Chopped coriander leaves : few -

Instructions
- Clean and wash the lentils and boil in a pressure cooker for 4 - 5 whistles.
- Blend the lentils with a hand blender till smooth.
- Transfer the boiled lentils to a pan and add 2 cups water, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt and bring to a boil.
- Heat ghee in a pan and add the cumin seeds / whole jeera and fry. Add minced garlic and fry till golden brown.
- Add the curry leaves and ½ tsp red chilli powder and pour the tempering on the boiled lentils.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
