Basmati rice : 1 ½ cup
Potato, diced : 1 large
Shelled green peas : ½ cup
Chopped tomatoes : 2 nos

Onion, sliced : 3 nos
Ginger garlic paste : 1 tsp
Turmeric powder : ½ tsp
Red chilli powder : 1 tsp
Water : 3 cups
Chopped coriander leaves : few
Oil : 3 tsp
Salt : as reqd
Instructions
Wash the basmati rice and soak in water for 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a sauce pan and add star anise, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, cloves and cardamom.
Add the sliced onion and sauté for about 2 - 3 minutes. To this add ginger garlic paste and sauté for 1 more minute.
Now add the washed rice, green peas, cubed potatoes, tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt sauté for 2 more minutes.
Add the water (room temperature) and cover the pan with a lid and cook for 20 minutes on a low flame.
Serve with raita.
