Pea & Potato Pulao

Simple Lunch Recipe with potato & pea

Ingredients
  

  • Basmati rice : 1 ½ cup
  • Potato, diced : 1 large
  • Shelled green peas : ½ cup
  • Chopped tomatoes : 2 nos
  • 3 small Cinnamon stick : 2
  • Bay leaves : 2 nos
  • Cardamom pods : 2 to 3 nos
  • 4 nos Cloves : 3
  • Star anise : 1 no
  • Onion, sliced : 3 nos
  • Ginger garlic paste : 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder : ½ tsp
  • Red chilli powder : 1 tsp
  • Water : 3 cups
  • Chopped coriander leaves : few
  • Oil : 3 tsp
  • Salt : as reqd

Instructions
 

  • Wash the basmati rice and soak in water for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a sauce pan and add star anise, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, cloves and cardamom.
  • Add the sliced onion and sauté for about 2 - 3 minutes. To this add ginger garlic paste and sauté for 1 more minute.
  • Now add the washed rice, green peas, cubed potatoes, tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt sauté for 2 more minutes.
  • Add the water (room temperature) and cover the pan with a lid and cook for 20 minutes on a low flame.
  • Serve with raita.
