Toovar dal : 1 cup
Finely chopped Tomatoes : 2 nos
Garlic minced : 3 cloves
Turmeric powder : ½ tsp
Cumin seeds : 1 tsp
Asafoetida : ¼ tsp

Freshly chopped coriander leaves : few
Vegetable oil : 2 tsp
Ghee : 1 tsp
Instructions
Rinse toovar dal and soak in water for 30 minutes.
Chop the tomatoes fine and add to the toovar dal and boil in a pressure cooker 5 - 6 whistles.
Heat oil and ghee in a pan over medium heat and add asafoetida, cumin seeds, minced garlic, chillies and curry leaves and fry for a minute.

Add boiled dal, 1 cup water, turmeric powder and salt and simmer on a low flame for approximately 10 - 15 minutes.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with steamed rice.
