- Cut the Lady's finger (vendakka) vertically into two and cut each vertical pieces into thinner verical ones and cut the thinner ones into 2 or 3 horizontal pieces depends on the length of the ladies finger.(Vendakka neelathil ariyuka). 
- Cut green chillies and garlic into small ones (Thari thari aayi ariyuka) 
- Keep  vendakka, greenchillies, garlic, thengappeera, curry leaves and a pinch of turmeric powder in a plate. 
- Heat oil in a sauce pan. 
- When oil becomes hot add mustard. 
- When the mustard splutters, add all the ingredients in plate to the sauce pan. 
- Keep in a very low flame and cover it with a lid.Don`t add water. 
- When vendakka is half cooked,add salt as needed and add 3/4 table spoon of vinegar to it and continue in the low flame and covered till the vendakka is completely cooked.
