Preheat the oven at 350 F or 180 C. Grease and flour an 8 inch round cake pan.
Add oil, yogurt and sugar in a big bowl.
Beat well on medium speed for 3 minutes or by hand 5 minutes.
Add beaten eggs slowly along with sieved flour and beat on slow speed, until well corporates.
Add the apple sauce and vanilla to the cake mix.
:- Sometimes, you need only 1/2 the amount of apple sauce.( The mix should not be runny)
:- The mix when dropped from a spoon should drop slowly and not runny.
6)Divide the cake mix into 2 halves.
Take 1/4 cup chocolate chips and heat in a microwave till it just melts.
Cool it and mix with half the cake mix.
:- This is the chocolate mix.
Take the remaining 1/4 of chocolate chips and combine with the other cake mix.
Fill the bottom of the pan with alternate layers of chocolate chip and chocolate mix.
Finally, use a knife to swirl in upward and downward motion round the cake mix to give the marble effect.
Put it into the oven and bake for 70 mins.
Check with a knife. If it comes out clean, it is done.
Note:- This recipe uses limited oil. You can substitute 8 egg whites instead of 4 whole eggs. This is a more healthy version.
:- If using plain flour use 1 heaped tsp baking powder to 2 cups of flour and sieve twice.
:- If apple sauce is not available, use 1 cup oil instead of 1/4 cup
