  • 1 cup Beaten rice
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 10 Cashew nuts
  • 10 Raisins
  • Salt pinch


  • Heat ghee in a pan or uruli and fry the cashew and raisins until light brown in colour.
  • Add aval/beaten rice in the remaining ghee.
  • Roast the aval until crisp
  • Once the aval begins to smell good,pour milk and cook on a medium heat.
  • Add sugar,cardamom powder when the payasam stars thickens.
  • Stir and cook on a medium heat until the payasam turns thick.Add cashew nuts, raisins and remove from the flame.
  • Serve aval payasam warm or cold.
