Pavakka Theeyal - Nadan Style

Ingredients
  

  • Bitter gourd : 1 no (chopped)
  • Coconut : 1 cup (grated)
  • Tamarind : lemon sized
  • Chilly powder : 3 tsp
  • coriander powder : 2 tsp
  • Shallots : 4 nos
  • Cumin seeds : a pinch
  • Mustard : ½ tsp
  • Green chillies : 3 nos (slit)
  • Curry leaves Few
  • Salt : as reqd
  • Coconut oil : as reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing the spicy dish, first cut the bitter gourd into small pieces and wash it with turmeric powder and salt. Soak the tamarind in little water and grate coconut. Keep aside.
  • Heat little oil in a kadai, add bitter gourd in it and fry for 2 minutes. Fry to a light golden brown color. Do not over fry.
  • Add tamarind juice and salt. Cook the bitter gourd. In another kadai, add little oil and heat it. Add coconut, shallots, cumin seeds, chilly powder, coriander and fry till color changes. When coconut turns brown color, allow it to cool and grind it in mixer.
  • Add the ground paste and green chillies to the bitter gourd and cook the masala. Splutter mustard seeds and add it to the curry.
  • Tasty Pavakka theeyal is ready.
