Kerala Pavakka Curry

Easy Pavakka (Bittergourd) curry

Ingredients
  

  • 3 nos Bittergourd
  • 2 nos Onion
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1 no Tomato optional
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • ½ cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Oil

Instructions
 

  • Cut the bittergourd into small pieces.
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Add chopped onion and saute till it turns soft.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for few seconds.
  • Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and saute well.
  • Add chopped bittergourd pieces. Mix well.
  • Add enough water to cook the bittergourd. Stir well.
  • Pour the tamarind pulp into the pan.
  • Cover and cook on a low flame till a thick gravy is formed.
  • Open the lid and stir well.
