Clean and wash the crabs. For cleaning the crab, first plug the legs and cut into 2 pieces of large legs.Now open the shell and clean inside of the crab.
Cut the cleaned crab into 2 pieces.
Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan. Add cinnamon, cardamom. cloves and bay leaves and fry for few seconds.
Add grated coconut and stir for 2 minutes.
Add coriander seeds, fennel seeds and fry combined with all the ingredients.
Grind the above with some water.
Heat oil in a kadai. Add chopped onion and saute till it turns light golden colour.
Add ginger-garlic paste. Saute well.
Add the chopped tomatoes and mix well.
Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
Add the crab and stir well for 1 minute.
Add the masala paste and mix well.
Pour enough water to cook.
Cover and cook on full flame for 1 minute. Stir and cook for 15 - 20 minutes on low flame.
When done, transfer the contents to a serving bowl.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
