Punjabi Rajma Curry

Soaked rajma is cooked in a spicy onion tomato mixture and served with roti/rice

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Kidney Beans/Rajma white or black
  • 2 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 2 nos Onion medium sized, chopped
  • 1 no Tomato big, chopped
  • 5 cloves Garlic remove skin and cut into small pieces
  • 1 small Ginger remove skin and cut into small pieces
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing Punjabi rajma curry, firstgrind together the ingredients: red chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala,coriander powder, onion, tomato, ginger and garlic in paste form and keep thismix separately.
  • Soak Rajma(Kidney Beans) for about 6hours and cook it in a pressure cooker adding 3-4 cups of water and salt totaste. Keep the cooked Rajma separately.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan. Once the oilgets heated, add the paste and fry it till the paste turns brown in colour.
  • Once the paste turns brown, add thecooked Rajma and water(as required) and bring to a boil. Add salt to tasteand let it cook for 5 minutes in low flame.
  • Garnish Punjabi rajma curry withcoriander leaves and serve with Roti or Rice.
