Nemipterus(Gulivindalu) Curry

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Nemipterus Threadfin bream
  • 1 tbsp Red chilly powder
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • 4 nos Green chillies
  • 2 cups Onion chopped
  • 1 tsp Poppy seeds Kashakasha
  • 1 small Ginger piece
  • 10 nos Garlic bulbs
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • 250 ml Refined oil

Instructions
 

  • Remove scales, gills, fins and alimentary canal of the fishes. Thoroughly clean and cut into medium sized pieces.
  • Apply turmeric powder, ginger- garlic paste and 1 tsp salt, mix well and keep for marination.
  • Take poppy seeds, ginger piece, garlic bulbs and one cup onion pieces into a blending jar and prepare fine spicy paste.
  • Take a deep bottomed pan, add oil and heat. Add the remaining cup of onion pieces and mustard seeds and fry. Add the half split green chillies and enough salt. Mix well.
  • Add the marinated fish pieces, spicy paste and red chilly powder and mix well.
  • Add two cups of water, stir well and simmer in low flame till the fish pieces are cooked well.
  • Serve hot as a side dish.
