Add oil to a pan and heat. Add grated coconut and fry. Add the green chilly pieces and ginger pieces. Fry for one more minute.
Take a grinding jar, add the fried coconut and green chillies, salt and the roasted gram. Grind into a thick dough.
Take the dough into a bowl and add curd. Mix well.
To a frying pan add remaining oil and heat. Splutter the mustard seeds, add dry red chillies, garlic bulbs and curry leaves and fry.
Add the above to the curd mixed dough and mix thoroughly.
This chutney has Universal utility. Can be used as side dish for dosa, upma, idly, vada and a variety of South Indian tiffins.
