Capsicum Paruppu Usili

An interesting variation with all time favorite capsicum

Ingredients
  

  • 3 nos Capsicum cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup Toor Dhal Tuvara parippu
  • 4-5 nos Red chillies
  • Asafoetida powder As per taste, Kayam
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Urad dhal Uzhunnu parippu
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing capsicum paruppu usili, first soak toor dhal in enough water for 30 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
  • Cut capsicum into small cubes.
  • Grind the drained toor dhal coarsely(not finely) along with red chillies and asafoetida powder.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Once hot, add mustard seeds and once it splutters add urad dhal and curry leaves.
  • To this, add capsicum and salt. and saute for a while. When half done, add the ground toor dhal to this and simmer for 8-10 minutes.
  • Enjoy with steamed rice or as an accompaniment to rasam.
