Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Banana stem Vazhapindi
  • 1/4 cups Rice Ponni boiled
  • 12 nos Dry red chilies
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 3 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp Channa dal Kadala prippu
  • Curry leaves A few
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing Vazhapindi Thoran, cut the banana stem into roundels and simultaneously, loop its serum onto your fingers to discard it.
  • Chop the banana stem into fine pieces.
  • Cook the banana stem along with turmeric powder and salt in a covered dish.
  • Keep aside.
  • Now take a kadai and pour 2 tbsp of oil. Allow it to heat. Add channa dal and mustard seeds.
  • When mustard seeds splutter add two red chilies and curry leaves.
  • Now add the cooked banana stem to it and mix well. Keep it aside. Let it cool for a while.
  • Dry roast the rice and the balance dry red chilies.
  • Dry grind it in a mixer.
  • Now spread this dry roast powder on to the banana stem and one tbsp of oil over it. Mix it well.
  • Vazhapindi thoran is ready. Serve as a side dish.
  • Note:- You can use any boiled rice to roast.
