Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups Red gram/Vanpayar soaked and boiled
  • 1 cup Dried prawns cleaned and roasted in 1 tsp oil
  • 3 nos Onion chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger chopped
  • 5 cloves Garlic chopped
  • 4 nos Dry red chillies cut in half
  • Curry leaves Few
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp Chilly powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 2 tsp Garam masala
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing red gram/vanpayar with dried chemeen, first heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add onion, ginger, garlic and sautT till light brown in color.
  • Add curry leaves and dry red chillies.
  • Then add turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilly powder, garam masala and saute till the raw smell goes off.
  • Add the boiled vanpayar and sautT well.
  • At this point, add dried chemeen and 4 tbsp water.
  • Cover it with a lid and cook for some time.
  • Red gram/Vanpayar with dried chemeen, a tasty side dish recipe is ready.
