Olan - Brahmin Special

Red cow peas, ash gourd, pumpkin, coconut milk and other ingredients are cooked together

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Red cow peas Vella payaru
  • 250 g Ash gourd Kumbalanga
  • 250 g Pumpkin
  • 2 nos Green chillies
  • 3 tsp Coconut oil
  • 1 piece Jaggery
  • 2 tbsp Coconut milk
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing oelan - brahmin special, soak red cow peas in water for about 5 hours before preparation.
  • Wash vella payar and boil it with 4 cups of water in pressure cooker. Cook ash gourd, pumpkin and green chillies for a few minutes and after boiling add salt.
  • Add the cooked vella payaru to pumpkin ash gourd mixture and cook for few minutes. Add jaggery.
  • Add coconut milk. Immediately after adding coconut milk stop cooking. Add coconut oil to the mixture.
  • Oelan - brahmin special recipe, is ready.
