- Red cow peas(Vella payaru) - 2 cups
- Ash gourd(Kumbalanga) - 250 g
- Pumpkin - 250 g
- Green chillies - 2 nos
- Coconut oil - 3 tsp
- Jaggery - 1 piece
- Coconut milk - 2 tbsp
- Salt(As reqd) -

- For preparing oelan - brahmin special, soak red cow peas in water for about 5 hours before preparation.
- Wash vella payar and boil it with 4 cups of water in pressure cooker. Cook ash gourd, pumpkin and green chillies for a few minutes and after boiling add salt.
- Add coconut milk. Immediately after adding coconut milk stop cooking. Add coconut oil to the mixture.
- Oelan - brahmin special recipe, is ready.
