100 g Oats (soaked and drained)1 tsp Urad dal3 nos Shallots (finely chopped, Kunjulli)1 no Red chilly (cut in half)1/4 tsp Ginger (chopped)Asafoetida (A pinch, Kayam)1/4 cup Coconut (grated)1 sprig Curry leaves1/2 tsp Mustard seeds1/2 tbsp Coconut oilSalt (As reqd) For preparing healthy oats upma, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds splutter, add urad dal, shallots, ginger, red chilly and and curry leaves. When the urad dal is golden brown in color, add soaked oats, required salt and asafoetida.Mix well and cook covered in low flame till done.
