Kakka Ularthiyathu

Kakka/oysters is cooked and mixed with grated coconut and other ingredients to prepare kakka ularthiyathu.

Ingredients
  

  • 125 g Oyster washed, cleaned and drained, Kakka
  • 3 nos Shallots crushed, Kunjulli
  • 1 no Green chillies chopped round
  • Ginger a small piece, chopped
  • 2 nos Garlic crushed
  • 1/2 cup Coconut grated
  • 5 nos Pepper corns crushed
  • 1/4 tsp Chilly powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • Curry leaves Few
  • Coconut oil As reqd
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing kakka ularthiyathu, first mix kakka with shallots, green chillies, ginger, garlic, curry leaves, some water and required salt in a vessel.
  • Cook in low heat until water has almost dried up.
  • Add grated coconut, crushed pepper, chilly powder and cover the vessel with a lid. Simmer in low heat until the kakka pieces are done.
  • Sprinke garam masala and add fresh coconut oil. Remove the vessel from fire.
  • Kakka ularthiyathu, a favorite dish of kerala, is ready. Serve hot.
