Steam the bananas. Cool and remove black pith.
Mash the bananas well and add 1 tbsp of sugar. Mix well and keep aside.
Take a pan and pour ghee. Heat the ghee and fry cashew nuts and raisins.
Add remaining sugar. When sugar melts, add beaten egg and cardamom powder. Leave the filling batter to cool.
Make lime sized balls with the mashed banana.
Take each ball and flatten with your palm. Put the filling and roll into round shapes.
Take a pan and pour sufficient oil for frying. Heat the oil and deep fry the entire unnakkai until golden in color.
Malabar unnakkai, a tea time snack is ready and serve hot.
