  • 250 g Ripe bananas Ethakka

For preparing filling:


  • Steam the bananas. Cool and remove black pith.
  • Mash the bananas well and add 1 tbsp of sugar. Mix well and keep aside.
  • Take a pan and pour ghee. Heat the ghee and fry cashew nuts and raisins.
  • Add remaining sugar. When sugar melts, add beaten egg and cardamom powder. Leave the filling batter to cool.
  • Make lime sized balls with the mashed banana.
  • Take each ball and flatten with your palm. Put the filling and roll into round shapes.
  • Take a pan and pour sufficient oil for frying. Heat the oil and deep fry the entire unnakkai until golden in color.
  • Malabar unnakkai, a tea time snack is ready and serve hot.
