Vazhakka Tholi (Plantain Skins) Thoran

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups Unripe Plantain skins finely chopped, vazhakka
  • 1/4 cup Green gram
  • 1 cup Fresh grated coconut
  • 3 nos Green chillies – 2
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds jeerakam
  • Curry leaves few
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 3 nos Dried red chilies
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Salt as reqd
  • 1 tbsp Oil

Instructions
 

  • Cook green gram with salt till soft not mushy, drain it and keep aside.
  • Add the finely chop plantain skins (Vazhakka tholi) and soak it in water along with half a spoon of turmeric powder for half an hour.
  • Drain the water and keep aside.
  • Meanwhile coarsely grind grated coconut, green chilies, 2 pinches of turmeric and cumin seeds.
  • Heat oil in a pan. splutter mustard seeds,red chilies and curry leaves.
  • Add chopped Vazhakka tholi, salt and saute well.
  • Add the ground coconut mixture and to it sprinkle little water. Mix well.
  • Cook it covered under low heat for 10 minutes.
  • Add the cooked green gram and saute till the thoran is dry
  • :-Vazhakka Toli Thoran is ready to serve hot with rice or roti!!!
