Chemmeen-Prawn Varattiyathu

A delecious and mouth watering dish made with prawns

Ingredients
  

  • 450 g Chemmeen/prawn
  • 1 cup Coconut milk
  • 2 nos Onion chopped
  • 4 nos Tomato chopped
  • 2 tsp Ginger chopped
  • 2 tsp Garlic chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds Uluva
  • 8-10 leaves Curry leaves
  • 4-5 nos Red chilly
  • 2 tsp Pepper powder
  • Thyme one pinch
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1/4 tsp Coriander powder
  • Coriander leaves few
  • 2 pieces Kudampuli Gamboge
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter cumin seeds.
  • Add fenugreek seeds, red chilly, curry leaves and fry well.
  • Add chopped onion and fry till light golden brown colour.
  • Add ginger, garlic and saute for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add red chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and saute till raw smell goes.
  • Add chopped onions and saute well till it is cooked.
  • Add prawns and kudampuli into it and saute for 5 minutes.
  • Mix half a cup of coconut milk with half a cup of water and pour into it and add required amount of salt.
  • Simmer and cook for another 20 minutes or till the it is half dry.
  • Now add the remaining coconut milk and mix well till it it is almost dried.
  • Add pepper powder, hyme, and coriander leaves .
  • Switch of the flame and mix it well and keep closed.
  • :- Serve hot!!!
