Cabbage Poriyal

Cabbage thoran - Kerala style

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 kg Cabbage should be cut into tiny pieces of 1 cm
  • 2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp Black gram Uzhunnuparippu
  • 1 no Onion finely chopped
  • 3 nos Green chillies split in between
  • 3 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 8 leaves Curry leaves
  • Fresh coconut(grated)
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 4 nos Shallots Kunjulli

Instructions
 

  • Shallots, grated coconut, 1 green chilly and some curry leaves together needs a light smash in the mixer. 2 sec run will do. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Splutter mustard seeds.
  • Saute curry leaves and black gram.
  • Add onions and chillies.
  • When onion turns golden brown, add cut cabbage after washing in water.
  • Mix well and add turmeric and salt.
  • Close the lid for 5 mins.
  • :- It should get cooked by now.
  • Add the shallot mixture and give it a stir.
  • Sprinkle little coconut oil on top.
  • :- Serve hot with rice.
