Kerala Pavakka Theeyal

Ingredients
  

  • 2 nos Bitter gourd medium sized)(cut into thin slices, Pavakka
  • 1 cup Grated coconut
  • 2 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 5 nos Red Chilly
  • 1/4 cup Sliced Shallots kochulli
  • Curry leaves a sprig
  • 2 tsp Tamarind water
  • Salt As reqd
  • 3 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds

Instructions
 

  • Heat a kadai and add the oil.
  • Add the bitter gourd pieces and sautT well .
  • Cook the bitter gourd pieces on low flame with a closed lid( no need to add water).
  • Take another frying pan and fry the grated coconut, shallots, coriander seeds and red chillies, till brown.
  • Make a thick paste by grinding all the fried ingredients (use a little water). 6)Heat oil in a kadai and splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  • Add the ground coconut paste, tamarind water, salt, pour 1 cup water and stir it well.
  • Add the cooked bitter gourd pieces and stir well.
  • Cook for 10 minutes on low flame till the gravy thickens.
