Tamil Nadu Potato Podimas

Great side dish for poori and chappathi

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Bengal gram(Kadalaparippu)
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 nos Onion medium
  • 3 nos Green chillies
  • 2 nos Potato boiled & mashed
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt As reqd
  • Curry leaves A few
  • Coriander leaves As reqd
  • 1/2 tsp Cornflour

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Splutter mustard seeds and bengal gram.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste.
  • Saute onion and green chillies, till the onion gets transparent.
  • :- Note that the onion doesn't turn brown.
  • Add the boiled and mashed potatoes into the pan with little water.
  • Add salt and turmeric powder.
  • Add curry leaves and coriander leaves and allow it to boil.
  • Mix the cornflour in some water and pour it into the curry for thickening.
  • Allow it to boil for 3 mins.
  • :- Serve with pooris or rotis.
