Chettinad Prawn Curry

This Chettinad Prawn is unique and different from other style of preparation. This is very spicy and goes well with rice, dosa etc. The prawn is cooked with onion, tomato mixture along with spices.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 kg Prawns
  • 1 tbsp Ginger paste
  • 3/4th tbsp Garlic paste
  • 2 nos Onions
  • 5 - Green chillies
  • 5 nos Peppercorns crushed
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 1/2 cups Tomato puree If made fresh with tomatoes otherwise 3 tbsp with 1 cup of water
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1/4th cup Oil
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add chopped onions and saute till onion becomes brown.
  • Add ginger paste, garlic paste, chopped green chillies and cook for a while.
  • Add the chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder and fry on low flame till the raw smell goes.
  • Add tomato puree and keep cooking until the mixture becomes a semi gravy one.
  • Add the prawns, crushed peppercorns, garam masala, curry leaves and lemon juice.
  • Cover and cook till the prawns are nicely done.
  • :- Serve with chapathis, naan or any other kind of roti.
