North Indian Style Dal Fry

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup Toor dal washed, Thuvaraparippu
  • 2 nos Tomato medium
  • 1 no Onion big
  • 1 tsp Ginger chopped
  • 1 ½ Garlic chopped
  • 2 - Green chilies
  • ½ tsp Coriander powder
  • ½ tsp Red chilly powder
  • ½ tsp Garam masala powder
  • Turmeric powder A pinch
  • Cumin seeds A pinch, Jeerakam
  • 3 - Oil
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • Coriander leaves A few

Instructions
 

  • Boil the toor dhal with enough water in the cooker for only two whistles.
  • :- It should be just boiled and not too soft.
  • Cut the onion, tomoto and chilies into small pieces.
  • Take oil in a frying pan and heat it.
  • Add cumin seeds, chopped garlic, ginger, onion and green chilies.
  • Fry the mixture on medium flame for 3 - 4 mins.
  • Stir the mixture periodically.
  • Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric pdr, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt and fry again on a medium flame for about 5 mins.
  • Pour cooked dal into this and mix thoroughly.
  • Cook until dal is cooked.
  • :- Serve it garnished with chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice.
