Kappa Puzhungiyathu - Kerala Dish

Ingredients
  

  • 1 no Tapioca/Kappa
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 4 tbsp Grated coconut
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 2 nos Garlic pods
  • 3 nos Small onions Kunjulli
  • 2 nos Dry red chillies Kollamulaku
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves A few
  • Oil As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Heat some water in a small vessel.
  • Add the tapioca pieces.
  • When the pieces are half boiled, add salt and mix well.
  • Cook till the pieces have become soft.
  • Drain off excess water.
  • Smash the cooked tapioca pieces well.
  • Grind together grated coconut, cumin seeds, garlic pods and turmeric powder.
  • Add the ground paste to tapioca and mix well on low flame.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan.
  • Splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add small onions, red chilly and curry leaves.
  • Saute till small onions are brown in colour.
  • Add this seasoning to tapioca and mix well on low flame.
  • Switch off the flame.
  • :- Tapioca dish is ready.
  • :- Goes well with fish curry.
