Murukku - Crispy

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg Parboiled rice
  • 200 gm Roasted Channa Pottu kadalai
  • 100 gm Butter
  • or
  • 100 ml Ghee
  • 15 nos Green chillies
  • 1 spoon Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • or
  • 2 spoons Sesame seeds Ellu
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil to fry

Instructions
 

  • Wash and soak rice in water for atleast 4 hours.
  • Drain water and grind rice with green chillies adding required water.
  • Grind pottu kadalai and add the grinded powder to the dough.
  • Add salt, cumin seeds or Ellu and butter to the dough and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Insert dough in murukkacchi and role it spirally to any desired shape on a plastic paper or banana leaf coated with oil.
  • Take the murukku from the paper and deep fry in the oil.
  • Turn it occasionally so that both side gets cooked well.
  • When the sound goes down, take the crispy murukku from oil.
