Kola Kozhambu-Chettinad Meat Ball Curry

Meat Ball Curry- Chettinad Style.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 gm Mince meat
  • 15 gm Cashew nuts
  • 5 tbsp Fried bengal gram Kadalaparippu
  • 2 tsp Poppy seeds Khashakhasha
  • 1 1/2 tsp Fennel seeds Perinjeerakam
  • 5 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 6 nos Green chillies
  • 5 nos Red chillies
  • 3 nos Onion
  • 1 nos Garlic pod
  • 1 nos Coconut
  • 1 nos Egg
  • Salt As reqd

To Grind For The Gravy:

  • 15 nos Red chillies
  • 100 gm Coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp Fennel seeds Perinjeerakam
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 2 tsp Poppy seeds Khashakhasha
  • 4 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 3 nos Onion
  • 1 nos Garlic pod

Instructions
 

  • For the preparation for Meat Balls:- 1)Clean the minced meat and wash. Squeeze out excess water and grind to a paste.
  • Grind the other ingredients listed below the minced meat to a fine paste.
  • Add beaten egg.
  • Add the minced meat and mix well.
  • Form into lime sized balls.
  • For the Gravy:- 1)Grind all the ingredients listed under `To Grind for the gravy` to a paste.
  • Heat oil in a heavy vessel.
  • Add the above ground masala and fry for 3 mins.
  • Add the tomatoes and fry till blended.
  • Add salt, tamarind puree made upto 1 cup and boil the mixture for 5 mins.
  • Add 2 cups of water.
  • When it begins to boil, add the prepared minced meat balls and let the gravy simmer for 15 mins, till the meat is cooked and the gravy becomes thick.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • :- Serve hot with plain rice or chapathis.
