Spinach Milagu Kootal
A delicious, very quick, healthy blend of Spinach and Dal

- 340 gm Spinach Paalak
- 1/2 cup Red gram Thuvaraparippu
- 3 cups Water
- Turmeric powder A pinch
- Salt As reqd
To dry roast:-
- 1 tsp Black gram Uzhunnuparippu
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
- 1 - Dry red chillies Kollamulaku
- 1 tsp Black peppercorns ground
- 1 1/2 tbsp Grated coconut dry roast separately
Wash thoroughly spinach and chop roughly.
In a pressure pan, add 3 cups of water, little turmeric, salt, chopped spinach and dal and cook for 3 whistles.
Grind the dry roasted ingredients in a mixer to a smooth paste with a little water.
Add ground paste to spinach and dal mixture, boil until slightly thick.
:- Serve hot with rice.
:- You need not season with anything.
:- Grinding the pepper fresh gives a distinct taste than the pepper power.
