Crush the spices and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
Splutter cumin seeds.
Add onion, garlic, crushed spices, green chillies and ginger-garlic paste.
Saute, till onion turns light brown in colour.
Add tomatoes and saute for 3 mins.
Add chilly powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder.
Saute for 2 mins, till the raw smell goes.
Add the boiled green gram and salt and stir for 3 - 4 mins.
Add water and mix well.
Cover and cook for 7 - 10 mins on medium flame, till the gravy reaches a semi consistency stage.
Sprinkle cumin powder and coriander leaves.
:- Serve hot with chappathis or naan.
:- Can also grind onion and spices together for a thicker gravy and saute with chopped onions.
