Chop the chicken into medium size pieces.
Wash them thoroughly with water.
Mix together the ingredients for marination and marinate the chicken overnight.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add asafoetida, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, cardamom pods.
Add finely chopped onions, spring onions and slit green chillies and fry them till they become golden.
Add fenugreek leaves, ginger-garlic paste, salt, chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, tumeric powder and tomato ketchup.
Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook for sometime.
Add the red food colour, if desired.
Once the chicken pieces are cooked, adjust salt and chilly powder.
Add finely chopped coriander leaves.
Serve with Naan, Kulcha or plain home made chappathis.
