Milagu Sadam

Rice dish made with pepper and coconut

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Cooked rice
  • 3 tbsp Grated coconut
  • 1 tsp Pepper powder
  • 4 nos Green chillies split vertically
  • 1 no Onion small
  • Curry leaves A few
  • 1 tsp Black gram Uzhunnuparippu
  • 1 tsp Bengal gram Kadalaparippu
  • 1 tsp Mustards seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • Oil As reqd
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a skillet.
  • Add the mixture of black gram, Bengal gram, mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  • When the mustards start to splutter, add curry leaves and green chillies.
  • Add chopped onions and saute for a few minutes, until the onions become brown.
  • Add pepper powder and just before switching off the stove, add the grated coconut.
  • Add salt to taste.
  • Add cooled or left over rice to this mixture and mix well.
  • :- Serve hot with pickle or coriander chutney.
